Research into behavior and brain mechanisms of Bipolar disorder

Dr. Mina Sadighi Alvandi, who works in the lab of Prof. Dr. Judith Homberg, shows us their lab at Donders institute for Brain, Cognition and Behavior in Nijmegen (the Netherlands). Their aim is to develop a new animal model for bipolar disorder.

Dr. M. Sadighi Alvandi: "What motivates me is that I am eager to learn about neuroscience and the brain"

The research team at the Radboud UMC uses Noldus’ PhenoTyper to house their animals while measuring depression and mania-like behavior in rats. With the help of EthoVision XT, locomotor activity, circadian rhythm and other home cage behaviors are also measured for 6 continuous days while being analyzed at the same time.

Watch the video to learn more about why they choose Noldus' tools.

Customer quote

"PhenoTyper and EthoVision are very helpful  because I can assess the behavior of rats for a long time, which is not possible with other behavioral setups."
